Beyoğlu Perşembe Pazarı Preliminary Assessment Report For Participatory Planning

The report serves as a guide for the planning studies carried out in the Perşembe Pazarı coastal area, which is limited to Tersane Street, Galata Bridge and Atatürk Bridge and located within the Beyoğlu urban protected area.

Within the scope of the five main chapters that make up the Perşembe Pazarı Participation Preliminary Preparation Report, evaluations and recommendations regarding the planning perspective and participation are included within the framework of the unique structure of the area, planning history, stakeholders and preliminary interviews, and relations with upper-scale plans and policy documents. Accordingly, the location and boundaries of the area, its historical and spatial development process and its characteristics regarding its conservation status, its social structure and transportation connections, as well as the character zones identified as a result of the sensory analysis conducted in the area are defined. The past and ongoing planning process and projects of the area are described, stakeholder groups are identified, the issues highlighted in the social media/media review and preliminary interview notes are included. High-scale plans and policy documents that may affect planning efforts in the region are evaluated and examples of best practices from both Turkey and the world are discussed. In the evaluation and recommendations section of the report, the problems, potential and needs obtained from all the information and findings are defined, planning themes are identified and recommendations on participation are presented.
